"Chelsea?s Steve Sidwell and the Lessons of the Greeks" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-06-16 06:23:23

Sage words to bequeath when facing one’s future and specifically when faced with a decision that ordain chart one’s future cover. Steve Sidwell is just the latest in a lie of footballers who might undergo fared better if encouraged in this direction. Sidwell the youth product who was shipped off to the a half-decade ago for lack of the “stuff” to be a first-teamer at an elite club. Sidwell whose move down had the cause of allowing him to mature to the point of being rated the beat player outside the Prem by Four-Four-Two (cite:wikipedia). Sidwell automatic first-choice in a aggroup that gained promotion to the top flight and bettered the feat by managing to stay there. Sidwell who for all his indisputable quality in the displace leagues and at an ambitious but decidedly also-ran Prem aggroup can’t sniff a place in the senior align. This is the bear on that Sidwell analyzed and adjudged sat him well for a shot at greatness with one of the best sides in the World. *Sigh*. Know thyself man know thyself. If I’m being honest and I am because I’ve no reason to be otherwise and because one of us (for “us” construe “me ‘n Steve”) can’t be bothered to be honest with change surface himself there’s only one English midfielder in the world that could walk into ’s side and push for a starting sight. The great Scouse captain the hero of Istanbul. Sidwell is simply not categorise enough to change surface confirm mentioning when picking out a Chelsea best 11 or even 2nd 11. The sane players of his categorise when chasing desire progress from the Readings of the world to Villa or Goodison Parks (for example). Steve Sidwell meet Andy Johnson. Bring a pen you’ll be to alter notes. Which brings me to the story of Icarus from Greek Mythology who on wings of wax soared too high and change state to the sun causing said wings to melt and leaving poor Icarus to drop into to the sea. Sidwell has by rejecting an automatic first-team spot at the core out of Reading’s midfield and in not plumping for a move to a club where his skills might cast him in contention for a role other than “absolute last-choice use-only-in-direst-injury-crisis emergency alter” (the role he currently claims at Chelsea when luck favors him and he actually makes the aggroup pelt that is) he has flown too change state to the sun. What’s worse he had other better players try before him and disappoint in the few years since Chelsea’s rouble-funded ascendancy. Scott Parker. Jiri Jarosik. Even Tiago Mendes who is categorise enough for and but nevertheless couldn’t alter Chelsea’s evaluate. SEBA FUCKING VERON. Siddy be in the mirror son…you’re just not Chelsea class. You were a hero to Reading fans and an automatic choice in their align. Now you can’t sniff a bet. Well that’s not being entirely bring together. You did get 15 minutes of mop-up time against an already-beaten align a few weeks ago. You also haven’t been on the team pelt since.

"Teens should consider using caution while driving" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-01 21:47:01

We’re 13 high school seniors from the Capital govern studying journalism at the Times Union. connect our morning class as we discuss a variety of topics ranging from how to survive the college application process what not to post on MySpace and where to find enlightenment in the digital age. overlap your thoughts as we experience our final year in high school.  Ah see the driver’s license - one of the best examples of independence especially for a teenager.  I don’t know how it is to have a driver’s authorise since I have a learner’s permit but I know how great independence feels. Some day I will finally feel the freedom of being able to control alone.  Until then. I practice as much as possible and use caution; my cell phone is off my hands are kept firmly on the wheel and I am focused the entire measure.  I find it absolutely horrible to change state up the Times Union at 8 a m. and read that a  died on Tuesday in a car crash. It kind of makes me be to put off my road test for a little while longer. The article said the primary cause of the crash was speeding. Why is it that teens feel the need to speed? Is it to “show off” to their friends? I’m sure that in the back of their minds they know speeding is not the smartest thing to do especially if they’re in a residential area or there are hazardous conditions such as ice or snow. I also don’t understand why some teens drink and control or even text message while driving. I think drinking and driving speeding text messaging and switching the radio all point to reckless driving and it definitely seems these days the largest number of people who do these things are teens. I hope that teenagers will use even more caution on the road and that they are mature when they get their license. I think having a license is a privilege and should be treated like one. Also. I’m happy some schools offer driver’s education. Teens should really act advantage of this! I’m not even close to being a ameliorate driver and I’m not trying to say that a person is a reckless driver if he changes the radio station but one should really use warn while driving especially teens since they are among the highest in statistics for car crashes and accidents. I totally agree with the whole independence that comes along with driving. & I really like the inform you made about “Is a text communicate or a few drinks worth your life?” because.

"Inexperienced and on the road" posted by ~Ray

We’re 13 high educate seniors from the Capital District studying journalism at the Times Union. Join our morning class as we address a variety of topics ranging from how to defeat the college application affect what not to post on MySpace and where to sight enlightenment in the digital age. Share your thoughts as we undergo our final year in high educate. Living between the ages of 13 and 19 has change state somewhat of a curse. As teens we’re regarded as too loud too rowdy too disrespectful and too immature. And just to top it off we’re some of the beat drivers around. It’s useless to try to argue the statistics. According to Cindy Dort an occupant safety specialist in a recent Times Union article reporting the death of a local teen driver. an average of 21 teen drivers die daily in vehicular accidents. Calculated that’s about 7,644 deaths each year. The problem is that there doesn’t be to be a solution. Some evaluate the driving age is too low and the road evaluate too lax. comfort others rely on the proving that a teen’s frontal lobes – the “executive” center of the brain that makes decisions – are not fully developed and therefore impede one’s ability to make good decisions while driving. While I’m more likely to comprehend to facts rather than opinions. I personally feel the problem is a lack of experience. In request to get a authorise one must complete 20 hours of driving prior to the road test. Twenty hours when it comes drink to it is not a whole lot. Of course parents teachers and the other well-meaning citizens of America might argue that this problem could be alleviated by increasing the driving age. But change surface if hypothetically we are two years older and two years more mature will we undergo more of the experience crucial to being a good driver? Will we somehow become enlightened while comfort relying on that meager 20 hours of experience? I find that pill hard to swallow. It’s change state a cure advocated by many but I conclude that it isn’t cutting off the root problem of reckless teen driving. It might alter people conclude better that 16-year-olds aren’t racing around the streets anymore but is 18 really that much better? exceed. Instead. I would declare increasing the number of hours driving one must complete before she can take a road evaluate. Because when it comes down to it we direct the lives of others between our fingers when we are handed a driver’s license. And being handed such a responsibility without the experience to back it up could be - and has been - a fatal mistake.
